Hello Again From 2010

It's been a while. Life is rolling along at a fast yet painfully slow pace.

I signed up for Lisa Semerad's Fundamentals of Design and Composition course at the Art League, in Alexandria. It begins in June. I'm completely stoked to be taking instruction from her. I missed out last year due to an illness in the family. This is my year, baby! I think she's the best around. Better than any university, or private college instructor. If I was given the option to take a design class at the Corcoran School of Art or hers at the Art League, it would be her class, hands down, wouldn't have to give it a second thought.

Can you tell I'm excited about this class?

I'm going to try to be more faithful to this blog. I'm shooting for three times a week? Discipline... a study in discipline, if nothing else.

Primordial Landscape of the Benevolant Benalli
Well...it's time to move closer in to the city. I've been hunting for a place to rent near Old Town. It's been a bit frustrating. I know things will fall into place eventually, but the process is wearing me out. Christmas? Meh... I'll catch it next year.

Blue Inquisition
I've been dormant of late, though enjoying time with family and friends! I miss my horses very much. It has left a huge gaping hole in the structure of my days. But, there is a time for everything, yes? This is not a season for equine pursuits it seems. Sigh... I am currently looking for another place to live in Alexandria, VA. Thank God I have a friend who lives in Old Town and can help me navigate this process! It can get a bit overwhelming when you don't know the lay of the land as well as you'd like. For as many times I've been there you'd think I'd have it down! But there are a lot of quirky neighborhoods that I seem to get lost in once I get off King St. or Route 1, LOL. But they sure have great restaurants over there. Worth finding, and worth getting lost over!

I haven't been painting or doing much photography over the last two months. This has been a time of deep reflection for me. It's been good... It's really opened my eyes, and caused me to be highly grateful for so many things.

Well, that's it for now. I hope everyone had a brilliant Thanksgiving!

Take Care,

Mechelle

Marrow
my most favorite time of the year when it comes to the weather. My least favorite time of year when it comes to my mood... the days start getting shorter, and so does my patience!

I have new work posted on Redbubble if you want to go over and take a look.  New writing as well. Go to my "about the artist" page and scroll down and click on the "redbubble see my profile" red box. Also check out my journal over there. You'll see that my friend Marina, from Ireland, designed me a cool t-shirt!!! I just ordered it yesterday and cannot wait to wear it. I came up with the saying and she made it into a cool t. Love her. She's an amazing artist. If you get a chance, please check out her work as well. You can go to the search box on Redbubble.com and type in Margpie. Trust me, you'll be blown away. Just taking things one day at a time...  So much going on. Boys starting back to school, getting settled into my apartment, etc., etc...

More later.  Want to visit with my mom before dropping her off at Reagan National for her flight back to Florida. Cheers! Mechelle

Cheers,

Mechelle

I've had more than a few prints and cards sell recently. That is just spectac!!! I'm so happy to know that my work will be enjoyed in people's homes, offices, etc.!

Also, the proceeds from two of the pieces will be going to organizations that are out there in the thick of it, helping the hurting, and needy in Africa...the proceeds from Sudan Abraided are going to SaveDarfur.org, and the funds for The Sheltering Wing, will be donated to Philidelphia33.org...a ministry lead by my friend and fellow artist, Trevor Irwin, to rural villages in Africa. I will have these two links up soon on my links page.

Cheers!

Mechelle
